Carl Weller 在 1945 年于美國賓夕法尼亞州伊斯頓創立了 Weller Electric Co.，同年發明了焊槍。他找到了一種針對快速增長的無線電修理市場的服務方法。該發明之后緊接著在 1950 年發明了第一個烙鐵，隨后是 1976 年發明了第一個溫控烙鐵。
